a penny for my thoughts

Psalm 111:3
"Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever."

I've been meaning to write about my quiet time recently but I just haven't been able to get to it, until now. Today, I am finishing Genesis and the Lord has been so good to me throughout this time! The last few chapters of Genesis go over the story of Joseph. From the beginning of Joseph's trials, the Bible repeatedly said, " the Lord was with Joseph." Then, towards the end of Genesis, after Joseph had revealed himself to his brothers; he sees that they were dismayed at his presence and he tells them, "And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life." Two verses later he says, " So it was not you who sent me here, but God." Does that not show God through Joseph?! So basically the Bible tells us how the Lord was with Joseph and then we see it's truth in Joseph's actions! What an amazing example of what it is to genuinely love and trust God! God is so faithful and even though we feel as if the storm will never end, not only will God be with us but there is a purpose for that storm that is way beyond our understanding. Thanks to the God above who knows what is good for us and is able to be glorified through any situation. God is faithful. God is good. God is Sovereign.

 Psalm 119:1
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands."

all for the sleepy blogger

Happy birthday to me! That sounds a bit self absorbed but I'm okay with that, ha. I celebrated my 20th birthday on Thursday and it was really amazing. I first started it off by going to the chiropractor..
Last Sunday I felt this sharp pain in my back and I had no idea where it was coming from. Wednesday evening I decided it was unbearable and needed to go to the doctor. They gave me a shot of steroids and then the next morning I made a visit to the Chiropractor. Basically, I have post traumatic syndrome from a previous car accident and a crooked pelvis. Thankfully, it's nothing that can't be fixed by a couple of Therapy sessions and adjustments.
Well I after that I was able to hang out with my super awesome boyfriend and we went to quiznos and he took me to hobby lobby to buy anything I wanted. Naturally, I wanted a canvass and more acrylics and I painted this..

Well sadly I had class but right after Brad, my roommates and a couple of friends went to eat at "El Guapos." Here's a pic of all of us..
Overall, it was a great birthday and I am very thankful for the wonderful friends who chose to share it with me. Well this is all for the sleepy blogger today! Until next time!

God is faithful.. God is faithful

Well, I'm super excited to share this joyous news .. I got an amazing camera! Yep. It's pretty wonderful so throughout my writing there will be random photos I have taken within these last three days of having my camera.

Today was testimony night with my homegroup. I was pretty excited about it because I just love sharing how God has shown faithfulness to me, even when I had no faith in God. As I was in Quiznos today, thinking and writing the bullet points of where my life was before God, the moment I saw God, how He chose to reveal Himself to me and my life now, I just stopped and told my roommate, " I just love my testimony." Not only because crazy things have happened but because time and time again God showed me His faithfulness.

I got to homegroup and all the girls sat around the fire pit and one by one they were telling their stories of how God worked in their life. I was just amazed on how God allowed each and everyone of us go through something so great that we all just had to lay back and say, " Okay God, I am Yours. I don't want to be asleep anymore." God is faithful.

When it came my turn to share my testimony, I figured, "keep it short and simple, that usually keeps me from tearing up or crying but people still see God's power and sovereignty throughout it all." Complete fail. I spoke and about one minute into it, I began crying. It's crazy how my past is still so vivid to me. I'm so grateful for that because God will never let me forget His faithfulness. God was faithful. God is faithful. God will always be faithful.

down by the border

Well today was fantastic. I registered for Spring classes and I'm taking 18 hours next semester. Crazy, I know. Luckily, after that my life should be pretty breezy until graduation. I was able to go to Dallas today and hang out with Brad for a bit. We studied for a couple of hours until Kristi, Nathan, and Asher got there. We all went to eat at Red, Hot and Blue which has got to be on my top 3 of favorite places to eat! After that we got back to Brad's and little Asher was going to trick or treat at Brad's door. Is this not the cutest little monkey you've ever seen?!

Brad bought Asher some of his yummy gold fish crackers and Asher was a pretty happy monkey, as you can tell from above.

Well my parents came into town tonight and stopped by just to put some delicious tamales and tortillas in my fridge before they went to find a hotel. I'm pretty excited because Dallas just doesn't have legit mexican food the way we have it down by the border. That's the only thing I miss about Brownsville, the mexican food made by real mexicans! Anyways, Happy November 1st!
